Walking the local area is a wonderful way to take it all in.
Every walk in the Romney area is a beautiful one; fields to the horizon and big open skies, with some of the UK's most striking sandy beaches to explore, and a footpath to New Romney immediately outside Romney Meadows Caravan Park.
If you enjoy walking there's lots of easy-going routes around us all the way down to the sea; some of the walking routes and footpaths do take you through farmer's fields though so we do recommend a good pair of walking or hiking shoes!
The pathway into New Romney is found by following the yellow markers through the farmer's fields; you can find a map in our gallery. The route is fine for children with the right footwear but it's not designed for prams or wheelchairs. With being in the countryside we do not have pavements so wellies are always needed in wet conditions. New Romney is quite a small village but has plenty of bars, coffee shops, restaurants, cycle hire, buses, and other useful facilities.
Of course you can carry on to the coast for a more full day of walking, and there are lots of stunning walking routes you can reach quickly by bus or taxi, there's a great selection to get you started on Komoot walking guides including routes around;
- The Dungeness coast and nature reserve
- Denge marsh bird hide route
- Dymchurch seafront from St Mary's Bay
- Littlestone water tower from Dymchurch
- Dymchurch seafront and coastal defences
- Dungeness nature reserve and bird hide route
- St Nicholas Church and New Romney loop
And if you'd like to reach a little further there are lots of options for cycle routes and bike hire (including e-bikes!). Our amazing location just outside New Romney has been a big help in being recognised for a TripAdvisor Traveller's Choice Best of the Best Award, based on feedback from visitors over the last year. So whatever kind of countryside and beach break you're looking for, we promise a warm welcome and a fantastic place to stay! Especially as proud winners of the Tripadvisor Traveller's Choice Best Of The Best 2022 Award.
